The speakers addressed topics related to private libraries and their role in enhancing the reading culture and intellectual awareness of society.

Alongside state and institutional libraries, private libraries can also make a significant contribution to the development of the national library system. The legislation of the Republic of Tajikistan permits individuals and legal entities to establish libraries and recognizes private libraries as one of the types of libraries.

Private libraries are usually established as a result of many years of collecting books, manuscripts, rare works, periodicals, and other printed materials. Some of these collections may possess significant scholarly, historical, and cultural value.

Therefore, the owner of a private library is not merely a collector of books, but can also serve as a custodian of the nation’s written and cultural heritage. In the era of globalization, private libraries can become an important component of the national library system. They are not merely repositories of books, but also repositories of historical memory, centers of enlightenment, and means of preserving national identity.

herefore, supporting and developing private libraries, establishing cooperation between them and state libraries and research institutions, as well as making use of digital technologies, can provide an important foundation for the further development of Tajik national librarianship. Private libraries can serve as a bridge between the past, present, and future of national culture.

In general, preserving books means preserving the history, language, and culture of a nation.
